Crime Scene Cleanup
A crime scene cleanup referral is for a home, apartment, or business after the property has been released. The scene may involve blood or other biological material, and the people who live or work there are often not in a position to deal with it. We do not attend the scene. We match the request to an independent partner company that can assess what the property actually needs.
Why a professional company
Professional cleanup is recommended because blood and other body fluids can carry pathogens. OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1030, governs workers who handle blood on the job. That standard applies to the employer's workers. It is one reason this work belongs with a company that trains its own people, not with family members using household products.
What partner companies typically do
Partner companies typically secure the area, remove affected materials they are prepared to take, clean and disinfect remaining surfaces, address odor when a source has been removed, and arrange disposal through their own channels. They give you their estimate and invoice you directly.
What to do right now
- Stay out of the affected rooms.
- Do not touch fluids, bedding, or weapons.
- Wait until authorities release the scene before anyone starts cleaning.
- If someone is hurt or in danger, call 911.
A property used to manufacture drugs is a different referral, called former meth lab decontamination.
Some property insurance policies may cover part of biohazard cleanup; many don't, and coverage depends on your policy. Check with your insurer. Insurance and self-pay jobs are accepted. Top Clean Bio is not an insurer, adjuster, or public adjuster and does not handle or negotiate claims.
