How we vet partners

What we look at before an independent company can receive a referral.

Top Clean Bio is a referral service and does not perform cleanup. Every partner is personally reviewed and approved by our founder, Travis Smith. That review is our decision about who may be introduced to a customer. It is not a government license, and it is not a promise that a crew is already nearby.

Training we check for

We look for OSHA bloodborne-pathogens training for technicians who may contact blood or other potentially infectious material. OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1030, applies to the partner's own workers. We do not employ those workers and we do not supervise them.

We also look for IICRC credentials where they apply to the work the company offers, such as contents or structural cleaning. Not every biohazard job calls for an IICRC credential. Where it applies, we ask to see it.

Insurance

We ask for proof of general liability insurance, and for workers' compensation where the company has employees. Some property insurance policies may cover part of biohazard cleanup; many don't, and coverage depends on your policy. Check with your insurer. Insurance and self-pay jobs are accepted. Top Clean Bio is not an insurer, adjuster, or public adjuster and does not handle or negotiate claims.

Biomedical-waste permits

Where a state requires a biomedical-waste transporter permit or a generator permit for the waste a company handles, we ask to see that the company holds it for the states it covers. Rules are not the same in every state. A permit in one state does not cover work in another. If a job needs a permit the company does not hold, we do not send that referral.

Founder review

Every partner is personally reviewed and approved by our founder, Travis Smith. An application stays pending until that review is finished. Approval means we may introduce the company to a customer. It is not a job offer. The company stays independent. Vetted independent partners do the cleanup. Top Clean Bio does not perform cleanup.

Removal

We stop sending referrals, and we can remove a company from the network, when required training is missing or expired, when the insurance we asked for is missing or has lapsed, when a required biomedical-waste transporter or generator permit is missing for a state they cover, when they misstate what they hold, or when the founder review no longer supports keeping them.

Removal is our decision about future introductions. It is not a government action, and it does not cancel the company's own licenses or permits. We do not take over a job that is already underway. The independent company remains responsible for work the customer agreed to with that company.
